AUGUSTINE
FORM and Upterior
New York, NY, USA | Durham, NC, USA
The collaborative effort explores the interplay between fragility and strength, intensity and invisibility.
April 2020
FORM Magazine and Upterior come together to explore a central theme of motherhood through conversation and the creation of an art piece.
The publication’s recent themes of “Mother” and “Figure” are applied to the creation of a sculpture using Waken Glass as a physical and conceptual medium. The sculpture Augustine reflects the multi-dimensionality of mothers, uniting the strength of metal and the perceived fragility of glass, alternating between vibrant intensity and invisibility, and evolving over time in response to the surroundings.
A conversation between FORM and Upterior is published in Volume XXIV of the magazine available on Issuu.
The sculpture Augustine will be available for viewing during FORM Vol XXIV launch event, preliminarily scheduled for Fall 2020 in Durham, NC (USA).
